Installation of R-SAMS

Prerequisites: Your computer needs to be running sql server 2012 or above, .net 4 or more, windows 7 or above. If you chose to put the database on a network server(most preferred), You will need to have a network connection to the server and ensure that your computer and database server are on the same network segment. away from that then you will need your network administrator to provide you with information on how to connect to the network server.

Note: Most Schools prefer to use network server  for installing the database so that the front end application can be distributed/installed on many computers including those in the Principal/Din’s office, the reception, the marketing office, the library office, the security desk, the academics lecturing staff, and the accounting staff not to mention but also the Directors or central school manager’s office.

Installation: Download and install sql server 2012/^ from Microsoft on the preferred computer. Attach the database file MySchools.mdf to your sql server and create a login account for the database. ensure that you give appropriate permission db owner permissions to this account.

Note: Enable the sql port 1433  to enable network computers to communicate with the database if you are using a central server for the database;

  1. From the package CD or download of the application from Romasoft, Run the installation file by double clicking it in the package.
  2. The installation will first look for the .net framework 4 and above. If available the installation proceeds to display an installation wizard. Follow it step by step. After finishing the installation you will now need to connect to the back-end database.

Connecting to the back-end DB: Run the application by clicking on the School Management System icon on the desktop. If the application does not connect to the database automatically, a DB Connection Settings Dialog will open up. Enter the specified information to connect to your database.
